Ambala industrial township to boost development, generate employment.
With the final approval given by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for establishing an industrial model township (IMT) in Ambala, the long pending project is expected to take off soon. Establishing an industrial model township in Ambala has been a long pending project as well as a poll issue in the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections. The issue finds a special mention in the speeches of senior leaders during the poll campaigns as the project will not only help in setting up new industries, accelerate development, it will also generate employment for the younger generations. During the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government, former Union Minister Venod Sharma had got the project approved for Ambala. However, following protests by the Opposition and infighting within the Congress, the project was shelved. Venod Sharma had criticised the Congress from public stages for cancelling the project. Though the project was shelved, it continued to be one of major poll promises in Ambala for years, with Venod Sharma and former minister of State and BJP leader Aseem Goel, both pushing for the project in Ambala at their respective levels. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had also promised to build the IMT if voted to power during the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
